First Steps with Kronos Utils

Requirements

First of all, in order to use the Kronos Utils script, you need to get and install some software :
    • Firefox 3 beta 5 or later (Kronos works, but with some graphics flaws, under Firefox 2)
    • Greasemonkey 0.8.20080519.0 or later (GM 0.8 is an absolute requirement)
to install : right-click, then "Save as...", then run the file with Firefox.

Note :
You can run Kronos under Firefox 2.0.0.14, but some features will look ugly (read: the extended city panel featured at the bottom of this page), and others might not work. We apologise for the inconvenience.
If you report Kronos Utils bugs when running Firefox 2, please append "(Firefox 2)" to the subject line (or, if you comment on a post, state it in your message body). Thanks in advance.
Any patches or tips on how to fix things are warmly appreciated.

First Steps with Kronos Utils

Installation

Once you have installed Firefox and Greasemonkey let's install the Kronos Utils script.

Open Firefox :
You should see a little monkey head in the bottom right corner of the Firefox window :
Be sure that this little head is colored and the monkey is smiling (which means that Greasemonkey is activated)

Now you can download and install the Kronos Utils script :
With Firefox open a new tab and install the latest Kronos Utils script version from Github (older link hosted on Google code).
You can follow releases and bug fixes on Githuub (older versions:ecmanaut Google Code website).

After clicking on the latest Kronos Utils script version link, a popup appears after a short loading time (depends on your internet connection) :

Click on the "Install" button, and in the bottom right corner a text comes up and announces that "'Kronos Utils' installed successfully".

You have successfully installed Kronos Utils script for Ikariam.

Notes :
You can disable the Kronos Utils script (or other scripts) by right-clicking on the monkey head icon and checking or unchecking Kronos Utils in the menu.
You can also disable Greasemonkey entirely by left-clicking on the monkey head icon.
When GM is disabled, this icon is in black and white and the monkey head is sad.

First Steps with Kronos Utils

First Start

Now you can go to the Ikariam website.
The first time you log on to Ikariam with Kronos Utils (or, if you are new to the game, when your first Academy has been built), a popup window will appear :

Click the "OK" button, and you will be redirect to Ikariam Library.
Kronos Utils checks out which technologies you have researched (which it needs to correctly figure out how expensive your buildings are to build, and to properly calculate the happiness and growth rate of your population, among other things), and will read through your library so it can tell you what effect each technology has.

Please wait until the script finish to go through all technologies.
You see the script has finished once a light bulb () or time () icon is next to all researches and the list pops out to become a tree. The light bulb and research cost is shown for already researched techs, time to finish at your current research pace, for technologies you have yet to finish. This process typically takes about a minute or two.

It's better not to click anywhere while the script is busy with this, or you might have to return here again to finish the process later. If you do not let Kronos read through the entire library, Kronos will be buggy. (It is likely that this also applies to all Firefox 2 users trying to run Kronos at the moment.)

Once Kronos Utils is done reading, it is almost ready with its initial setup.

First Steps with Kronos Utils

Next & More

You can now navigate with Kronos Utils.
At the beginning you will see some erroneous data here and there, until Kronos has seen enough to know better :
  • Over the buildings :
  • Next to the city option menu (some buildings level and resources quantity might be empty) :

In order to make Kronos work properly, you just have to browse through your buildings and cities. The missing data will be gathered by peeking over your shoulder wherever you go as you visit the related page. (As Kronos tries to be a good citizen and never retrieve data from the site on its own, which would add rather than remove server load for Gameforge.)

You are now ready to use Kronos Utils. Please register in order to have support, bug report, language support and others.

We need your help in order to find bugs. Please Post them in the support section if you found any.
You can also post your suggestion and questions, we will be pleased to answer to your questions.
Thanks a lot.
